Studio Policy

THE MUSIC HOUSE OF BLACKSBURG STUDIO POLICY

GENERAL INFORMATION

My style of teaching is to make it fun and educational for each student and for each student to

play music they enjoy! Instruction consists of weekly private lessons where repertoire, sight reading, rhythm,

technique, practice techniques, rote learning (ear training), and note reading are emphasized.

Students will also enjoy playing musical games to reinforce objectives taught during the lesson.

Lessons are 30 or 40 minutes each week.

LESSON FEES

30 minute lessons are $35 each. 45 minute lessons are $50 each.

Tuition is due by the 8th day of each month. Students will receive a monthly invoice for their

lessons. Monthly fees are based on the number of lessons per year multiplied by the cost per

lesson. The total is then divided by 12 to determine the monthly fee. For example:

38 lessons X $35 = $1330

$1330 divided by 12 months = $111 per month. (Billing and lessons are year round)

Method books and sheet music are NOT included. Method books usually cost $30 (estimate).

All payments are made online via PAYPAL.

LATE FEES of $20 per student will be applied. Accounts must be paid in full for lessons to

continue.

SUMMER LESSONS - Each student is expected to attend 4 lessons during the summer to

continue lessons at my studio in the fall. Lessons can be scheduled during the mornings and

early afternoons during the summer.

A four-week notice is required to DISCONTINUE LESSONS. If you decide to discontinue

lessons during the course of a billing period, your tuition amount will be forfeited.

ATTENDANCE - A 24 hour notice is required to cancel a lesson except for personal illness or a

medical emergency. NO REFUNDS ARE ALLOWED. The instructor reserves the right to

dismiss a student (s) with poor attendance or poor preparation at any time. Students are

expected to be on time for each lesson and be prepared. Students will be HIGHLY encouraged

to participate in studio recitals, performances, and parties.

MAKE-UP LESSONS - Parents/Students are responsible for scheduling make-up lessons. Two

make-up lessons are allowed per semester. The lessons must be made up during the current

semester. They will not accumulate.

INSTRUMENT - An acoustic, well-tuned piano, or a keyboard with 88 weighted keys with a

bench, music stand and damper pedal is required for all students to practice on. I am happy to

assist in deciding which keyboard to purchase. A foot stool may be required if needed.

RECITALS - I offer a fall and spring recital each year. Participation cost is $10 per student per

event.

MY MUSIC STAFF - This is my online studio software management. All online payments,

scheduling, etc is found here. You will receive a log in to access your account.
